About Us

Astarte Industries is at the forefront of tactical shooter game development, and we are on the lookout for a Level Designer to join our passionate team. Our current project, Bellum, is a First-Person Military Tactical Shooter set in the near future, designed to push the boundaries of realism and immersive gameplay.

Role Overview

As a Level Designer at Astarte Industries, you will be responsible for designing, building, and iterating on game levels that align with the gameplay, narrative, and artistic vision of Bellum. You will work closely with game designers, artists, and programmers to develop environments that are not only visually stunning but also offer engaging and strategic gameplay. This role is crucial for player experience by creating well-thought-out level design.

Key Responsibilities

Level Design & Implementation:
  • • Design and create engaging, strategic, and visually appealing game levels using Unreal Engine.
  • • Develop layouts, gameplay flow, and pacing to ensure an optimal player experience.
  • • Implement gameplay elements and use environmental storytelling to enhance the overall narrative and player immersion.
Collaboration & Iteration:
  • • Work closely with game designers, artists, and programmers to ensure level design aligns with the overall game vision.
  • • Iterate on level designs based on feedback from playtesting, QA, and other team members to refine gameplay and flow.
  • • Integrate assets, lighting, and effects into levels while maintaining performance and visual quality.
Technical Integration & Optimization:
  • • Optimize levels for performance without sacrificing visual quality or gameplay experience.
  • • Ensure levels are designed to support both single-player and multiplayer scenarios, taking into account balance, flow, and replayability.
  • • Collaborate with technical teams to resolve any level-related issues and implement efficient workflows.

Requirements

Experience:
  • • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with Unreal Engine as a Level Designer.
  • • Experience designing levels for at least one shipped title, preferably in the AAA or high-profile indie space.
  • • Strong understanding of level design principles, including layout, pacing, flow, and balance.
Technical Skills:
  • • Proficient in Unreal Engine or similar level design toolsets.
  • • Familiarity with optimization techniques for performance and scalability in game environments.
Soft Skills:
  • • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside the box.
  • • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • • Passion for game design and creating memorable player experiences.
Preferred (but not required):
  • • Willingness to relocate to Scottsdale, AZ, relocation support will be provided.
