About Us

Astarte Industries is at the forefront of tactical shooter game development, and we are on the lookout for a talented Senior Environment Artist to join our passionate team. Our current project, Bellum, is a First-Person Military Tactical Shooter set in the near future, designed to push the boundaries of realism and immersive gameplay.

Role Overview

As a Senior Environment Artist at Astarte Industries, you will be responsible for producing cutting-edge environments that set the stage for an unforgettable gaming experience. You will work closely with the Creative Director and our Level Designers to establish and maintain the artistic style and atmosphere of Bellum, ensuring a seamless blend of visual quality and technical performance. Your work will play a crucial role in crafting a perfect visual experience for our players.

Key Responsibilities

Environment Creation:
  • • Produce high-quality environments and assets that align with the game’s artistic vision.
  • • Ensure a balance between visual quality and the technical limitations.
  • • Optimize assets to maintain performance without compromising visual fidelity.
  • • Collaborate with the technical team to integrate assets smoothly into the Unreal Engine.
Artistic Leadership:
  • • Contribute to the visual direction of the game by providing creative input and feedback.
  • • Mentor junior artists, helping to elevate the overall quality of the art team’s output.
  • • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies to continually improve the game’s visual presentation.

Requirements

Experience:
  • • A minimum of five years of experience as an Environment Artist in game development, with at least one title shipped.
  • • Proven experience in creating high-quality, realistic environments in a game production environment.
  • • Strong understanding of architecture, props, and their relationship to the environment.
Technical Skills:
  • • Proficient in Blender, Photoshop, Substance Designer/Painter, etc.
  • • Strong lighting skills, with experience in creating normal maps and applying shaders.
  • • Extensive experience working with Unreal Engine.
  • • Deep understanding of the art production pipeline for games, including modeling, texturing, and optimizations.
Soft Skills:
  • • Excellent artistic skills with a strong knowledge of composition and various art styles.
  • • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, communicating effectively with artists, designers, and engineers.
  • • A passion for creating immersive and visually stunning game environments.
Preferred (but not required):
  • • Willingness to relocate to Scottsdale, AZ, relocation support will be provided.
