Welcome to our third Bellum Developer Profile!
It’s been a hot minute since we pushed out a new developer profile; and as we approach our first playtest sessions, we wanted to continue introducing various members of our development team to the community.
Today, we’ll be talking about our Level Designer, Daan. Whose work you’ve seen quite a lot over the past few months.
Level Design
A lot of you might know Daan (also known as MrDeath) from before, as he used to be Downpour Interactive’s Community Manager for their game, Onward.
Although an avid VR fan, he also dived deep into the Arma 3 milsim space, where he’d spend most of his time prior to Onward’s release. Fast forward a few years, and he now spends his free time playing other tactical shooters, such as EFT, GZW and RON. But also dabbles around in more relaxed games, like Age of Empires, Age of Mythology and Old School RuneScape.
As Onward continued to develop, Daan found himself entering the Level Design field, which would ultimately lead to him joining the Bellum team in late 2023.
As a Level Designer, he’s primarily tasked with developing our current map, Highlands.
From the landscape, to the layout, all the way down to prop placement: Daan is in charge of making Highlands feel and look as realistic, authentic and unique as possible.
