Bellum Beta Build #772
Bellum Beta Build #772 is now live on main branch.

Bellum Beta Build #772
Everything since Build 769.
Changes
Shot falls (getting knocked down)
- About 30% fewer knockdowns from being shot.
- After a knockdown you get a random 15-30 s window where you can’t be knocked down again.
- When moving, your movement direction now decides which way you fall from a much lower speed (25%, was 75%). Leaning pushes the fall toward the side you lean.
- Explosions can now knock you down (up to 25% chance, once per blast). Only one knockdown can happen at a time.
- Mouse look frees up about 1 s into a fall, once your body has landed, instead of staying locked for the whole animation.
- You can break out of a fall into ADS after 1.2 s. The aim-in after a break is slower than normal (2x).
- Side and backward falls now land in the matching prone pose and stay there, for you and for everyone watching.
- Falls and the sprint dive blend smoothly instead of snapping, and other players see your fall from its first frame.
- You can’t stand or crouch out of a fall-to-prone until 0.25 s after it ends.
- The right-side fall plays 1.5x faster.
Movement and aiming
- Sprint dive: ADS opens about 1 s sooner, as your body lands.
- Crawling in prone now cancels ADS, with a 0.4 s cooldown before you can aim again. An aim press during the crawl is queued and goes through when the cooldown ends.
- First-person weapon feel loosened: the arms and gun trail your body when you start, stop and turn, some sway is kept while aiming, and the sights settle as they arrive. Head bob now also works while strafing.
- A frame hitch no longer whips your view around: mouse look is capped on very long frames.
Weapons and equipment
- GM94 thermobaric rounds and 40mm grenade explosion effects polished.
Server browser and Quick Join
- New Quick Join: queue for the next server that has room. It lives at the bottom right of the server browser (no longer on the main menu) and shows your place in line on a simple queue chart.
- Select up to 3 servers at once and queue for all of them. Use Join server, or Join when X% full to wait for a server to fill.
- Double-click a server to queue for it.
- Selected rows are higher contrast with an amber left edge.
- Your queues stay in a dialog until you leave them or get in.
Voice
- Your microphone is now auto-levelled and limited before it is sent, so loud players are less harsh.
- If your mic is too loud, the settings screen and the HUD now tell you, with a link to your Windows microphone volume page.
- Players whose mic clips are no longer muted for listeners.
Game modes
- Exploitation: both teams are held at their FOBs during the planning stage. 3 caches are needed to win, and any missing caches are placed automatically. The briefing now says 3 caches, and the match phase banner shows the planning stage text again.
- Kambori: every player now receives the AO.
Menus and HUD
- In a match, Alt+F4 or the window’s close button now asks QUIT TO DESKTOP? first. Pressing it a second time closes the game at once.
- Debrief: the team REVIVED number now counts casualties who got back up, not medic credit (two medics on one casualty no longer count as two revives).
- Debrief: long clan-tagged names keep their tag and cut in the middle instead.
- B-TAK mode card now names the enemy faction.
- M240 loader prompt no longer shows MAX BELT next to a low belt count.
Graphics and performance
- Highlands: fixed a 5-second freeze while moving.
- Fixed a GPU crash (device hung) when loading into Tsavo, and after changing resolution in settings.
- Low and Medium shadows: fewer foliage shadow dropouts on Highlands (uses about 96 MB more video memory).
- More plants now fade out when they are right in front of your camera (Msasa trees and saplings, Tsavo grass, palm fronds, desert date).
- Big server performance gains in full matches, and grenades cost the server much less per fragment.
Fixes
- Walking uphill on a server no longer stutters or rubber-bands.
- Fixed a crash when rebinding a key.
- Fixed a crash when another soldier changed an attachment on their weapon.
- Fixed abandoned server joins holding a player slot.
- Settings: applying into or out of exclusive fullscreen no longer asks you to apply again.
- Throwables wheel: picking the item already in your hand now re-equips it if it got stuck.
- Fixed the legs twisting a full turn when landing from a backward fall.
- Fixed the camera snapping down on the first frame of a sprint dive.
- Other players no longer see a knocked-down soldier hitch at the start or pop at the end of the fall.
- Spectator zoom no longer gets stuck at the soldier’s view after you die into the spectator camera.
Known Issues
- On very high ping, rough uphill ground can still cause some movement corrections.
- Some lower GPUs are experiencing lower frames, we are looking into it.
